T. Boekhout et G. Scorzetti, DIFFERENTIAL KILLER TOXIN SENSITIVITY PATTERNS OF VARIETIES OF CRYPTOCOCCUS-NEOFORMANS, Journal of medical and veterinary mycology, 35(2), 1997, pp. 147-149
Ten different killer sensitivity types are distinguished within Crypto
coccus neoformans, namely four in var. neoformans and six in var. gatt
ii. All strains of the var. gattii investigated were inhibited by kill
er toxins of C. laurentii CBS 139, whereas those of the var. neoforman
s were not. Killer sensitivity patterns are an easy-to-use method to d
ifferentiate between the two varieties of the clinically important yea
st C. neoformans, and may be of help in epidemiological surveys.
