While the history of geography has been cultivated in the Anglo-Americ an world with a great deal of success in recent years, European themes have received significant attention as well, from scholars both insid e and outside the discipline. With the thought that the readers of Pro gress in Human Geography may be rather less aware of these latter cont ributions, some indicative examples have been selected for considerati on in the following review.
