Abstract
Microdisk lasers with rough boundaries are investigated using the fini te-difference time-domain method. Two types of rough boundaries are co nsidered. The first is a sinusoidal roughness, and the second is a ran dom Gaussian function generated by a Monte Carlo method, Results indic ate that rough boundaries can affect the scattering loss and the reson ant wavelength and can create modal coupling.
