Vs. Kuzmin, COHERENT PHENOMENA IN THE STARK SWITCHING OF AN INHOMOGENEOUSLY BROADENED SPECTROSCOPIC TRANSITION OF 2-LEVEL ATOMS, Laser physics, 7(2), 1997, pp. 375-383
This paper theoretically demonstrates that the action of one or two St
ark pulses on a system of two-level atoms in the presence of a laser f
ield with constant amplitude and frequency gives rise to the formation
of multiple echo signals. The formation times and amplitudes of these
echo signals depend on the relation between the Stark shift delta(2)
and the detuning delta(1) of the frequency of the laser field from the
central frequency of an inhomogeneously broadened spectroscopic trans
ition. It is shown that these signals result from zero beats that aris
e when the varying oscillation frequencies of dipole moments of two-le
vel atoms coincide with the generalized Rabi frequency. Based on the a
nalytical expressions for the response of the system, we demonstrate t
hat for delta(2) > delta(1) the response of the system describes coher
ent emission, whereas for delta(2) < delta(1) it corresponds to cohere
nt absorption.
