Abstract
A new distribution of slow electrons in a moderate heating field, when the Langdon parameter is small, is obtained. This distribution dimini shes the nonlinear interaction of waves and leads to a new nonlinear m echanism of parametric instabilities. As a result in weakly collisiona l plasmas the electron heat-flux inhibition is suppressed, and the col lisional ion-acoustic damping is decreased. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
