Abstract
It is shown that during the propagation of a surface polariton through a slender wedge its wavelength infinitely decreases as it approaches the edge of that structure. As a result, the polariton focuses in a ve ry small region and the strength of the electric field increases anoma lously. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
