Abstract
Analytical treatment on a coherent amplification is reported for a fem tosecond optical pulse. A blue shift of the carrier frequency is obser ved when the amplification is studied beyond the slowly varying envelo pe approximation. This may balance the frequency walk-off caused by a self-Raman scattering in a fiber communication line.
