Abstract
Described is a method for the determination of erotic acid as its meth yl ester in human urine. The method involves the use of solid-phase ex traction to isolate pyrimidines from urine and derivatization with met hanol and sulfuric acid, followed by isocratic high-performance liquid chromatography on a reversed-phase C-18 column with UV absorbance det ection. The assay is shown to be sufficiently sensitive for use in cli nical investigations where elevated erotic acid excretion is suspected . (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
