Abstract
The title compound has been synthesized by solid-state reaction. Its s tructure is isomorphous with those of other lithium pyroxenes and is c omposed of infinite isolated chains of edge-sharing VO6 octahedra link ed together by corner-sharing SiO4 tetrahedra. These form. a three-dim ensional framework within which each Li+ ion occupies a highly distort ed octahedron.
