Abstract
Single crystals of the new compounds CdLn[B5O10] (Ln = La3+, Sm3+, Eu3 +) were obtained in silver ampoules at 1073 K by using a B2O3 flux tec hnique. The compounds are isotypic with CoSm[B5O10] and contain two-di mensional infinite [B5O10](5-) ion chains. Three of five B sites are t etrahedrally coordinated. Cd2+ occupies distorted CdO6 polyhedra while Ln(3+) is tenfold coordinated by O atoms.
