Abstract
In the solid state, the title compound, C38H44O8, adopts a cone confor mation, which is somewhat distorted. The cone conformation is also obs erved by NMR spectroscopy in solution. The distortion consists of a ma jor inward tilt of the two opposite phenolic rings, permitting hydroge n bonding to the ether substituents.
