H. Mayer et al., SNOW COVER DEVELOPMENT OF SPRUCE FORESTS WITHIN THE SOUTHERN BLACK-FOREST, Forstwissenschaftliches Centralblatt, 116(6), 1997, pp. 370-380
Weekly measurements oi snow depth and water equivalent of snow cover w
ere carried out in winter 1994/1995 in spruce stands located in the AR
INUS experimental watershed Schluchsee in the southern Black Forest. T
he measuring piers were situated both in open fields and regeneration
areas as well as in spruce stands with different crown density. There
are only small differences between elevation and exposition of the ind
ividual measuring points. Therefore, the crown density is the only sit
e parameter influencing mainly temporal courses and mean values of sno
w depth and water equivalent of snow cover which are discussed here.
