Percutaneous balloon angioplasty is an alternative therapy for the tre
atment of the typical type of coarctation. Its associated morbidity an
d mortality compares favorably when compared to the standard treatment
surgery. While atypical coarctations are rare, the described cases ha
ve been treated surgically. We present a case of unusually located aor
tic coarctation successfully treated with percutaneous balloon angiopl
asty. (C) 1998 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
