Abstract
Tunneling through an alternating potential leads to activation. We pre dict its fractal (Hofstadter butterfly-type) and chaotic resonances, w hose cut-offs are related to the alternating potential strength. At lo w frequencies activation exhibits strong dispersion and high-frequenci es generation.
