Abstract
The first and second dissociation constants of malonic and succinic ac ids have been determined by a precise emf method in ethylene glycol-wa ter media and at different temperatures (25-55 degrees C). The thermod ynamic properties (Delta G degrees, Delta H degrees and Delta S degree s) for the first and second dissociation reactions of these two acids were computed, analyzed and discussed in terms of solute-solvent inter actions. Delta H degrees-Delta S degrees, Delta S degrees-Delta G degr ees and Delta G degrees-Delta H degrees correlations among different s olvent media were examined. The pK value has been correlated with the dielectric constant of the medium according to Born equation.
