The commonly used Monte Carlo technique has been applied to simulate n
ormal as well as texture-controlled grain growth on 100(3)-square latt
ices. For the case of normal grain growth the simulations yield a grai
n growth exponent of n approximate to 0.5, provided the modifications
of Radhakrishnan and Zacharia [B. Radhakrishnan, T. Zacharia, Simulati
on of curvature-driven grain growth by using a modified Monte Carlo al
gorithm, Metall. Mater. Trans. A 26A (1995) 167.] are implemented into
the algorithm. Microstructures with a strong initial texture exhibit
texture changes if the grain boundaries have anisotropic mobilities. (
