Abstract
This paper reviews recent research approaches to substance use disorde rs in schizophrenia with respect to etiology, problems with assessment , domains of vulnerability, and effects on course of illness. Also rev iewed is one domain focused upon infrequently in treatment research of schizophrenia: nicotine dependence. (C) 1998 Rapid Science Publishers .
