Hc. Yee et Pk. Sweby, ON SPURIOUS BEHAVIOR OF SUPER-STABLE IMPLICIT METHODS, International journal of computational fluid dynamics, 8(4), 1997, pp. 265
The objective of this paper is to gain a better understanding of the a
symptotic nonlinear behavior of super-stable implicit linear multistep
methods for constant time steps. Examples of the nonlinear effect cau
sed by grid adaptation and super-stable implicit total variation dimin
ishing (TVD) schemes on the overall performance of the numerical proce
dure are given. A method to minimize spurious steady-state numerical s
olutions is discussed.
