Abstract
The objective of this paper is to gain a better understanding of the a symptotic nonlinear behavior of super-stable implicit linear multistep methods for constant time steps. Examples of the nonlinear effect cau sed by grid adaptation and super-stable implicit total variation dimin ishing (TVD) schemes on the overall performance of the numerical proce dure are given. A method to minimize spurious steady-state numerical s olutions is discussed.
