Abstract
A theoretical and experimental study of cavity-polariton dispersion in single and coupled cavities with embedded quantum wells (QWs) in the strong coupling regime is presented. For coupled cavities, removal of the degeneracy of spatially separated QW excitons is achieved via coup ling of symmetric (antisymmetric) coupled-cavity modes to the correspo nding exciton states. The polarisation splitting between cavity polari tons is also experimentally studied and theoretically described.
