Ip. Ipatova et al., OPTICAL INTERBAND-TRANSITIONS OF POLARON EXCITON IN QUANTUM DOTS, Physica status solidi. a, Applied research, 164(1), 1997, pp. 413-416
The polaron effects in quantum dots are investigated theoretically. It
is shown that the exciton polaron energy is large in materials with d
egenerate valence band. This energy increases with decreasing dot radi
us. In the strong confinement regime the electron-hole pair can create
significant polarization of the medium in ionic crystals. This polari
zation should manifest themselve in multiphonon interband transitions
and large Stokes shifts of the optical lines.
