CELLULITIS AND MONOARTICULAR ARTHRITIS DU E TO HELICOBACTER-CINAEDI BACTEREMIA IN A HIV-INFECTED PATIENT

Helicobacter cinaedi was initially associated with gastroenteritidis o r asymptomatic carriage in homosexual men, but systemic infection are very scarce, Only 39 case reports of bacteremia have been published, o ut of which 22 on HIV-infected homosexual men. The authors report a ne w case of H. cinaedi bacteremia with arthritis and cellulitis in a HIV -infected homosexual man, successfully treated by amoxicillin and gent amicin. Clinical and bacteriological features of H. cinaedi associated bacteremia in HIV-infected patients are discussed.
