Psychogenic seizures may be difficult to differentiate from epileptic
seizures. Two case-reports illustrate the criteria for the diagnosis a
nd comment on psychological and behavioural aspects of the condition.
Sexual abuse is not rare in patients with psychogenic seizures. A deta
iled assessment of potential social and psychological risk factors is
therefore necessary. Psychotherapy has particulary to take into accoun
t the sequelea of trauma in those patients who have suffered from abus
e or other trauma.
