TRACE-METALS IN VEGETATION GROWN NEAR TO AN OLD MUNICIPAL SOLID-WASTEINCINERATOR FROM CATALONIA, SPAIN

The concentrations of ten metals were determined in vegetation samples collected in the vicinity of an old municipal solid waste incinerator . Twenty-four samples were taken at various sites within a radius of 3 km from the facility. The levels of As, Cr, Ni, Pb, Sn and V increase d with the distance to the plant up to 1500 m. With the exception of C d, no significant correlations between metal concentrations in soil an d those found in vegetation were obtained.
