Abstract
In US-iraq diplomatic brinkmanship, unlike in 1991 when Saddam Hussain lost because of his miscalculation, in 1997 it has been advantage Sad dam so far. The allies of the US, especially France and Germany, have refused to toe the US line and Saddam has played his cards well in the Arab world too.
