Four siblings had one or more episodes of hemolytic uremic syndrome. O
ne was a boy who had two episodes, at 3 1/2 and 8 years of age, respec
tively. One of his sisters had five episodes, at three years of age, t
hen every year from 6 to 9 years of age. The remaining sister and brot
her each had one episode, at 3 years 8 months and 4 years 8 months of
age, respectively. The outcome was favorable in all four cases. Histol
ogic features varied from one sibling to the next.
