We present a new iterative model for the computation of the asymptotic
population of different species in competition in a confined environm
ent. The results of the model are successfully compared with some expe
rimental indications, for dense systems of living polymers, which are
not rationalizable within the currently proposed analogy with polymeri
c solutions. The observed complex behaviour of such a kind of systems
is well reproduced when we take into account the existence of some fee
dback effects, represented by excluded volume interactions. Furthermor
e, the time evolution of the system towards equilibrium is followed an
d the possibility of some anti-kinetic behaviours is emphasized.
