Abstract
Four cases of synovial cyst (ganglion) arising from the facet joints o f the lumbar spine are reported. A typical presenting feature was exac erbation of pain on standing or walking, mimicking vascular claudicati on. MRI proved in all four cases to be the definitive investigation an d surgery the treatment of choice, producing excellent results.
