Abstract
The design of an energy-storage reactor in large measure determines th e performance of most high-efficiency switched-mode de-to-de converter s. No other component-has such a dramatic effect on the circuit wavefo rms and the distribution of circuit losses, It is often difficult, eve n for experienced designers, to visualize the complex relationships be tween the choices of magnetic design parameters and the resulting elec trical performance of the power stage, This paper develops a methodolo gy that allows the designer to relate the magnetic design choices of c ore material, core geometry, number of turns, and relative permeabilit y to the electrical performance of the power stage.
