Abstract
We report a patient with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura and genet ic haemochromatosis. The patient was shown by the polymerase chain rea ction to be homozygous for the Cys282Tyr mutation of the HFE gene. Liv er biopsy showed micronodular cirrhosis and the presence of an iron-fr ee focus which was thought to be pre-neoplastic.
