J. Shao et al., INVESTIGATION INTO THE EFFECT OF UV OZONE TREATMENTS ON THE DYEABILITY AND PRINTABILITY OF WOOL/, Journal of the Society of Dyers and Colourists, 113(4), 1997, pp. 126-130
The effect of UV/ozone treatments on the surface and bulk properties o
f wool has been investigated. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy indicat
es that the oxidative process causes extensive surface modification, w
hile vibrational and electron spin resonance techniques show the forma
tion of cysteic acid and free radical species. The beneficial effect o
f UV/ozone treatment on wool dyeing, printing and shrink-resist proper
ties has been investigated.
