D. Terribile et al., UNUSUAL OXYGEN STORAGE REDOX BEHAVIOR OF HIGH-SURFACE-AREA CERIA PREPARED BY A SURFACTANT-ASSISTED ROUTE/, Chemistry of materials, 9(12), 1997, pp. 2676
The interaction of hydrous cerium oxide with cationic surfactants unde
r basic conditions is used for the first time in the preparation of Ce
O2 with enhanced textural and redox properties. The reduction of Ce4to Ce3+ is strongly augmented, especially in the low-temperature regim
e, resulting in a broadening of the window of stability of Ce3+. This
is accompanied by an increase of thermal stability in the region 900-1
150 K.
