Abstract
A complex radical ionic salt, N-(beta-iodoethyl)pyridinium bis(7,7',8, 8'-tetracyanoquinodimethanide), (C7H9IN)(+).(TCNQ)(.-).(TCNQ), where T CNQ is 7,7',8,8'-tetracyanoquinodimethane, was synthesized and studied by X-ray structural analysis. The crystal structure of the complex co nsists of layers. Layers of (C7H9IN)(+) cations alternate with layers of TCNQ molecules packed in stacks. Shortened intermolecular contacts occur in stacks of TCNQ and between cationic and anionic layers.
