R. Benhassen et al., CRYSTAL-STRUCTURE OF MONOMETHYLAMMONIUM MONOCHLORODIBROMOMERCURATE(II), Journal of chemical crystallography, 27(11), 1997, pp. 657-660
The crystal structure of monomethylammonium monochlorodibromomercurate
(II) was refined from single crystal X-ray data including the fractio
nal contribution of centrosymmetric domains. The refinement converged
to R = 0.05 in space group C2. The fraction of structure and its inver
se were detected in the refinement. The structure is one-dimensional c
onsisting of distorted tetrahedra (HgCl2Br2) connected together by chl
orine atoms. The CH3NH3+ groups are connected to the chains by hydroge
n bonds to the halogen atoms contributing to the cohesion of the cryst
