We present a fine-structure effect in exotic decays by using the clust
er preformation mechanism. The cluster formation is treated as a quant
um mechanical fragmentation process and is obtained within the asymmet
ric two-centre shell model of Maruhn and Greiner. The shell effects in
the potential energy surfaces and mass parameters play a key role for
the explanation of experimentally observed fine-structure effect. Als
o, the asymmetric two-centre shell model is well suited for the predic
