In the framework of the classical representation of quantum mechanics,
we introduce a marginal distribution for the damped quantum oscillato
r described by the Caldirola-Kanai model. This description is based on
the symplectic tomography method. The expression found for the margin
al distribution for the coherent and Fock states of the damped oscilla
tor is expressed through the Gauss function and Hermite polynomials. W
e briefly discuss the substitution method of evaluating the marginal d
istribution.
