Cystogastric drainage guided by sonography and endoscopy was successfu
lly performed in 9 out of 13 patients with symptomatic pancreatic cyst
s. In successfully drained cases the catheter could be removed without
recurrence of the cyst after 6 months. Even 3 infected pancreatic pse
udocysts were cured by cystogastric drainage and antibiotics. In cases
where conservative therapy fails this procedure is far less invasive
than surgery or external drainage.
