Growth of 0+ juveniles Acipenser gueldenstaedti was studied under expe
rimental basin conditions in the Czech Republic for the first time. 10
0 000 fertilised eggs was imported from Russia (Krasnodar) on 16 May 1
996. Aquaculture rearing at temperature of 23 degrees C was realised i
n the Mydlovary Fish Hatchery, Hluboka nad Vltavou Pond Fisheries, A.S
., and subsequent rearing in an experimental basin at decreasing tempe
rature from 18.5 to 11.1 degrees in the Institute of Landscape Ecology
AS CR in Brno. The growth intensity of the total length (TL) and weig
ht (w) was low. Daily increments of TL, during the trial (D47-D199, av
erage TL 88.8-196.0 mm), ranged from 0.01 to 2.97 mm.d(-1), the specif
ic length-growth ratio decreased successively from 3.05 to 0.07%. Dail
y body weight increments, at feeding with live and pelleted food, rang
ed from 0.00 to 0.43 g.d(-1), the specific weight-growth ratio decreas
ed successively from 8.55 to 0.15%. At feeding only by pelleted food,
the weight growth parameters were very low or even negative. In additi
on, the factors of assymetry and excess of length distribution, the da
ily feeding ratio, food conversion, body weight condition, length-weig
ht regression, relationship between total and standard length and mort
ality are presented.
