A. Medvedovici et al., FRACTIONATION OF NITRO AND HYDROXY POLYNUCLEAR AROMATIC-HYDROCARBONS FROM EXTRACTS OF AIR PARTICULATES BY SUPERCRITICAL-FLUID CHROMATOGRAPHY, The Journal of microcolumn separations, 10(1), 1998, pp. 89-97
Nitrated and hydroxylated polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (nitro- an
d hydroxy-PAHs) extracted from air particulates were fractionated from
other micropollutants by semipreparative packed-column supercritical
fluid chromatography on silicagel. Sample injection and fraction colle
ction was automated by means of a Gilson 233 XL sample preparation sta
tion. The collected fractions were analyzed by capillary gas chromatog
raphy-mass spectrometry operated in the ion-monitoring mode. For some
specific solutes, concentrations down to the 1 pg/m(3) level could be
measured. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
