Abstract
New families of local radiating boundary operators are proposed for fi nite element simulations of wave propagation problems characterized by the classical wave equation. These operators may achieve an arbitrary accuracy (in the sense of an arbitrary small reflection coefficient), and have the form Bu = g, where B is the Dirichlet, Neumann or Robin operator. This particular form guarantees the well-posedness of the en suing truncated domain problem, and makes the operators suitable for i mplementation in a standard finite element code.
