Abstract
Fungal infections become more and more important due to their increasi ng incidence in immunocompromised patients. In these patients opportun istic fungi (Candida, Aspergillus, Cryptococcus) can cause life-threat ening infections. Diagnosis of fungal infections is difficult. Clinica l symptoms are uncharacteristic, and laboratory diagnosis is confronte d with many problems and requires expert interpretation.
