ON APPLICATIONS OF CAMPBELLS EMBEDDING THEOREM

A little known theorem due to Campbell is employed to establish the lo cal embedding of a wide class of four-dimensional spacetimes in five-d imensional Ricci-flat spaces. An embedding for the class of n-dimensio nal Einstein spaces is also found. The local nature of Campbell's theo rem is highlighted by studying the embedding of some lower-dimensional spaces.
