Jr. Caradus et al., BREEDING AND DESCRIPTION OF GRASSLANDS SUSTAIN, A MEDIUM-LARGE-LEAVEDWHITE CLOVER (TRIFOLIUM-REPENS L) CULTIVAR, New Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, 40(1), 1997, pp. 1-7
'Grasslands Sustain' white clover was bred to break the negative relat
ionship between yield potential and persistence, by combining medium-l
arge leaf size with high stolen growing point density. It is expected
to grow and persist well under a range of stock classes and management
systems. Winter growth is similar to that of 'Grasslands Kopu' but au
tumn, spring, and summer growth is improved. Depending on the trial, 5
0-60% of genotypes were cyanogenic. Peak flowering occurred 2 weeks af
ter the longest day irrespective of closing date.
