Three cases of cerebral infarct that unexpectedly showed accumulation
of thallium-201 on single photon emission CT are presented here. In th
e first case, infarction developed following removal of an intracerebr
al hematoma. In the second case, infarction developed due to deep veno
us thrombosis as demonstrated by angiography. In the third case, hemor
rhagic infarction was diagnosed by the follow-up CT. The findings in t
hese cases demonstrate that thallium-201 accumulation may occur in the
liquefaction stage of cerebral infarction.
