Abstract
5'-Hydroxyl groups of deoxynucleosides and nucleosides except for guan osine can be acetylated in high yields and selectivities through a mod ified Mitsunobu procedure by adding diethyl azodicarboxylate to a susp ension of the deoxynucleoside or nucleoside in dioxane containing trip henylphosphine and excess acetic acid at 60 degrees C.
