Abstract
We observed terahertz (THz) radiation from alpha-axis oriented YBCO th in films for the first time. Ultrashort electromagnetic pulses which w ere referred to as THz radiation were excited by femtosecond laser pul ses. The THz emission efficiency was enhanced by one order of magnitud e compared with that from c-axis oriented YBCO thin films. (C) 1997 El sevier Science B.V.
