Abstract
We examined the literature on job satisfaction and user information sa tisfaction to see if there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the two constructs are correlated. It seems that the factors which affect job satisfaction are similar to those which affect user information sa tisfaction. Examining user information satisfaction and job satisfacti on in isolation would not be rigorous because the effects of relevant contextual variables have to be taken into account. Referring to past research, we identified the relevant contextual variables (age, educat ion, organizational level, frequency of computer use, computer literac y and user training), and then developed a comprehensive framework whi ch allows us to investigate the relationships between the two construc ts. We then tested the framework with a small scale study. The results are encouraging. Further research should be done to test the validity of the framework. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
