Abstract
The optical absorption spectra of gamma-irradiated 1-propanol-methylcy clohexane mixtures at 77 K in glassy matrices has been measured. The b and shape, band width, and the maximum peak position of the band at 51 6 nm assigned to the solvated electron localized on 1-propanol molecul es have been studied as a function of 1-propanol mole fraction in the full concentration range. The comparison between the experiment and th eoretical model provides new arguments in the discussion on the mechan isms of excess electron band broadening. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V .
