Abstract
The fecundity and oocyte diameter of 70 female capelin (Mallotus villo sus) from the Barents Sea were investigated. The average fecundity (+/ -SE) was 11 542 (+/- 261). Oocyte diameter and fecundity increased wit h increasing weight and length of the capelin. Interannual variation i n capelin fecundity is large, and corresponds to differences in body w eight as revealed by a comparison with previous studies.
