There are two criteria, blood ethanol concentration and breath ethanol concentration, to determine the physiological degree of drunkenness o f people since the correct measurement of the breath ethanol concentra tion by means of evidential breath ethanol analysers has become possib le. The methods of measurement, the resulting measurands and the probl ems involved are described from the viewpoint of legal metrology.
