INTERNATIONAL-TRADE AND GLOBALIZATION OF METROLOGY

In view of the ever increasing globalization of economy, the removal o f barriers to trade has become a central political task. An important contribution to this objective can be made by harmonizing legal regula tions? written standards, accreditation and metrology on an internatio nal level. The article will describe which role Sour relevant internat ional organizations (WTO, ISO/IEC, ILAC and BIPM) will play, and point in particular to the consequences the objective ''one-stop measuremen t to achieve worldwide recognition'' will have for metrology.
